I wanted to upgrade my Fisher F5 with a DD coil so I started watching youtube videos and ran across some aftermarket coils that people were reviewing. I narrowed it down to a CORS Strike or NEL Tornado then watched videos on their performance thats where I ran across a video on the new NEL Thunder. I took a chance and ordered the Thunder from Colonial Metal Detectors since they had the best pricing. When I received the coil it would not connect to my F5, I soon discovered that Fisher had changed the connector on their F5 some years ago so I would need an adapter. I found the adapter online and ordered it. When it arrived I connected the coil up to my machine and set off to testing it. The Thunder coil is solidly built looks amazing on my machine. It also comes with a coil cover and straps to hold the cable to the shaft. I started in the usual spots in my yard that I have been over before. To my surprise the, the detector was making a lot of noise so I checked my settings and discovered I was in all metal mode. I selected 4 tone mode and tried again, the only words that can explain this is WOW! I was completely amazed at how the detector came to life. It was so lively that I found myself discriminating Fe & Foil so I wasn't digging so much. With the Thunder coil on my F5 to tones are a little different but it didn't take long to adjust to it. If you're contemplating this coil on your machine you won't be disappointed. One more important note to add, the folks at Colonial Metal Detectors are very responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. When I had questions they contacted me right away and made sure I was taken care of. I highly recommend this product and retailer to everyone.
