The versatile Vaquero is an all-around detector designed to do just about anything a detectorist could want. Named after the Spanish word for "cowboy," the Vaquero lives up to the hard-working, take-on-the-tough-jobs reputation that made cowboys in the Old West famous. What enhances the Vaquero's versatility is its 3-3/4- turn manual-adjust ground balance, which gives the detectorist the capability to set up the machine to suit mineralization conditions and personal treasure-hunting style. They also added an ED180 discrimination feature for filtering trash from treasure, a push-button pinpoint for easier digging, and a VCO-style all-metal operating mode - features that give the Vaquero its "do anything" power.

  • MicroMAX Design
  • VLF 14 kHz Frequency

The Vaquero is an Excellent choice for Coin, Jewelry, Relic and Cache hunting, when in competition and when wading shallow fresh water. It also performs well in Beach/Surf and when Prospecting.

Thoughts on the mighty Tesoro Vaquero
I have been in this hobby since the 80's and have been fortunate enough to have used many brands and models of detectors. From this long list, I think the Vaquero needs special mention. It can be as easy as you'd want it or listening closely ... more detailed than you can imagine. It is a single tone detector that speaks its own language as any Vaquero user will tell you. It is deep even with the stock coil as long as the GB is set well for the ground you're scanning. Manual ground balancing should not scare you as it takes less than ten seconds once you have done it a couple times. So anyway.....as far as deep....I was running it in all metal and got a signal...a deep signal....so deep I wanted to give up digging it but I'm glad I didn't because I ended up with a 1899 Barber Half at a measured 11" under a root and not laying flat. If that isn't deep enough...I don't know what is. The build is solid and the detector is as light as a feather and was my favorite for breaking down and stuffing in my backpack as I would always take it with me on hikes.....and it never seemed to need a new battery....which is another plus. I did have something happen to the speaker at one point and had to send it in for replacement...I handed control of my little beast over to Rusty and he got it back to me within 10 days if I remember correctly...and me only paying the shipping there. Huge shout out for everyone there at Tesoro...great company and warranty. Bottom line is that this is a great detector...and you would be doing yourself a favor keeping it as a serious option when choosing your new detector. ( I would rate it 5 but there is no such thing as perfect ) HH all
